Facebook Developer Program – Terms

Terms and Conditions

  • Upon receiving and email from Joyent with your account credentials, you have one week to log into it. If you fail to log into the account within the first week, it will be reclaimed.
  • You must log into your virtualmin console at least once every 30 days.
  • Inactive account or account that have not been used in over 30 days may be reclaimed by Joyent.
  • All that we ask is that your Facebook application be ‘active and in use’.
  • Your account must be used to create a viable Facebook API application. If, over a two month period, your application has less than an average of 15 daily users and has not been logged into during that period, the account will also be reclaimed. We obtained the average number of daily active users directly from Facebook.
  • You may also build applications on non-Facebook platforms, however, your Facebook application must remain active and in use in order to remain qualified for this program.
  • You get one Joyent Developer account (you can apply to more than one Joyent Developer program, but only one account per person per program, please).
  • Your account will be terminated and blacklisted if you use the Free Developer Program to spam users, commit fraud, host pornographic material or banner ads and CDN content. Also, being smarmy is generally frowned upon.

Special Notes: The Free Facebook Developer Program cannot be used with BIG-IP load-balancing. Mail pre-configured for outbound SMTP only, limited to 500 recipients per hour. There are no limits on the number of OpenSocial users your application may host. We reserve the right to deal with abuse.

Participants in the Free Facebook Developer Program can receive support through our Knowledge Base and from the user community on our Forum, where you can ask questions, pitch ideas and get to know other Facebook developers. If you have further questions, send us an email: Facebookdev@joyent.com.

Please note that root access is not available in the Free Developer Program. If you do need the added flexibility of root access please upgrade to a production server at my.joyent.com.
