This video from a Frontline documentary speaks volumes about what the state-of-the-art is for computers providing autoscale in the cloud. It still comes down to piloting (architectures).

as it happens, there were actually no lessons learned from this event.
the flight recorder was tampered with and pilot error was a contributing factor.

@Jeremiah: watch the youtube video you reference. At 1:30 the announcer indicates one of the technologies on the plane was a computer that was supposed to take over in case of pilot error. But that’s beside the point. Computers won’t scale your app or fly your plane in an emergency. Not today, at least.
