(Textdrive) BSD Server Migration to (Joyent) OpenSolaris Servers:
We have been touting the new server environment we launched on OpenSolaris for a couple of months now, and thought we would give you a few more reasons why you should be asking for your ‘golden ticket’.
We have taken advantage of the latest features in OpenSolaris (Nevada) in order to strictly limit memory and CPU usage per user, minimizing the chance of your site going down due to someone else's sloppy coding. We have also added some new features. For starters, we're using an updated version of the control panel which places your most common tasks right in front of you when you login, without much clicking around. Along with that, you can easily install several popular Web applications (including WordPress) using graphical script installers.
On the shared Accelerators, you now have the ability to check your disk space and bandwidth usage month-by-month. Finally, the new servers are a great place to run Ruby on Rails with Mongrel: OpenSolaris' Service Management Facility makes sure that your application's processes are properly started and (automatically) restarted as necessary.
