Joyent Accelerators bring flexibility, scalability, affordability, speed and convenience to the application development and deployment process, enabling companies to build out infrastructure on an on-demand basis in small to large increments. The company’s dedicated developer program will provide one free Joyent Accelerator to the first 3,500 Facebook developers that enter the program.
In addition, Joyent’s datacenter has been peered with Facebook’s datacenter to minimize network latency. Dell supplied the server infrastructure for the Joyent data center that will support the developer program.
“Facebook is one of the hottest platforms for developers right now and Joyent wants to allow them to create the next viral application and scale without anxiety and effort,” said David Young, CEO at Joyent. “We designed Accelerator to partner with developers and give them everything they need to build, experiment, evaluate and scale their applications without spending a small fortune to do so.
“Teaming with Dell will contribute largely to further expanding Joyent’s leadership as an on-demand infrastructure partner,” Young said.
“We’re excited that Dell enterprise technology and Joyent Accelerators will be instrumental in helping Facebook offer a higher quality product to their customers,” said Bill Rodrigues, vice president and general manager of Dell’s Commercial Business Group.
Joyent Facebook Developer Accelerator includes everything needed to develop and deploy Facebook applications, including root access to a virtualized server for developing in PHP, Python, Rails, and Java. Example application code is provided.
This program is open to Facebook developers around the world. To register for your free Joyent Accelerator, please visit http://joyent.com/developers/facebook.
