Yahoo! and Joyent have partnered to provide free scalable, on-demand infrastructure from Joyent to Yahoo! developers. Yahoo! developers can take advantage of Joyent Accelerators to quickly launch Yahoo! applications capable of scaling to millions of users. All for free.

What’s Included?

A Joyent Yahoo! Developer Accelerator includes everything you need to develop and deploy your Yahoo! applications. The platform is based on the Joyent Launch shared platform.

Note: We do not currently support Windows, and do not plan to do so in the foreseeable future.

How it works

Sign up. The Yahoo! Accelerator will be yours to use free for a year. It’s that simple.

Our Goal is to Help You Launch

You’re going to love your Yahoo! Accelerator. We’ve seen developers like you do amazing things with this free service. Please note that these free Accelerators are intended to serve as a development environment. Our goal is to help you get off the ground. After your app goes live on Yahoo!, and it becomes wildly popular, you will likely soon need to upgrade to a larger Accelerator on one of our monthly or yearly plans.

Terms and Conditions

All that we ask is that your Yahoo! application be ‘active and in use’.

After your account is first created, you have one week to log into it. If you fail to log into the account within the first week, it will be reclaimed.

Your account must be used to create a viable Yahoo! API application. If, over a two month period, your application has less than an average of 15 daily users and has not been logged into during that period, the account will also be reclaimed. We obtained the average number of daily active users directly from Yahoo!

You may also build applications on non-Yahoo! platforms, however, your Yahoo! application must remain active and in use in order to remain qualified for this program.

Special Notes: The Free Joyent Accelerator™ cannot be used with BIG-IP load-balancing. Mail pre-configured for outbound SMTP only, limited to 500 recipients per hour. There are no limits on the number of OpenSocial users your application may host. * We reserve the right to deal with abuse.
