Cloud Billing

Joyent’s SmartDataCenter provides comprehensive billing information and is designed to readily integrate with your new and existing operational and billing systems. Our fully documented set of RESTful billing APIs support any billing logic including subscription or utility, pre-paid or post-paid, and specified time period billing arrangements. In addition, we support other popular cloud billing features such as periodic measurement (e.g., hourly resource caps), frequent measurement for metered items (such as network I/O), and event driven measurements prompted by the start, stop, or deletion of a machine.

Operators may collect data from SmartDataCenter on the consumption of allocated bandwidth, CPU, disk I/O, memory, and storage of SmartMachines and Virtual Machines running on SmartOS. Commercial or proprietary billing, A/R, and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) may process this data and apply the appropriate price algorithms to bill your customers as you require.

Bills may originate from any department of any line of business. Payment collection may be performed with your preferred payment gateways to accommodate the diverse expectations of your new and existing customers. You may employ the cloud pricing model of your choosing in support of your overall service provider business model and in compliance with any international, national, regional, or local laws and regulations. SmartDataCenter readily supports operators with audit reports to reconcile customer billing disputes or to conduct accounting reviews.
