Linux Kernel Engineer (Remote)

San Francisco, CA, US
Remote

You have

  • A love of kernel engineering, a deep understanding of the performance implications of copying memory, a rabid interest in security topics, and maybe even a quirky interest in how a hotdog is not a sandwich
  • A keen and broad understanding of one or more of networking, storage, KVM, or PCI/NVMe

You want

  • To build high-performance VXLAN networking systems in kernel, in NICs, and in switches (wherever needed to meet capability and performance requirements), to build storage systems in support of virtualized guests, or to optimize the security of PCI passthrough in KVM
  • To work in C, assembly, Go (it won’t all be in the kernel, after all), and other tools as necessary to build stuff
  • To participate and thrive in a delivery-oriented, goal-centric culture

Joyent offers

  • An opportunity to build a greenfield cloud, and scale it to meet the needs of the world’s largest cloud consumers
  • A highly distributed, remote-friendly team (US preferred, but we can work with candidates up to 9 hours offset from US Pacific time)
  • An opportunity to shape product and business strategy and grow into new roles as the organization grows
