Endurance Team Season Starts with Finishes

May 03, 2011 - by jacksonwest

Over the weekend, seven members of Team Joyent kicked off the endurance season with races. Most of the team was down at Lake San Antonio for the 2011 Avia Wildflower Triathlon put on by Tri-California. Three took on the Long Course -- 1.2 mile swim, 56 miles of cycling and a 13.1 mile run -- including our fearless leader, CEO David Young. Another three raced the Olympic Course -- a .93 mile swim followed by a 24.8 mile ride and a 6.2 mile run. Your editor started his season a little less ambitiously with the Moraga Triathlon, a sprint distance event with a quarter mile swim, 14 mile ride and 3.1 mile run.

Not only did no one drown, everyone finished -- and injury-free, no less! And that's not just a great start to the season, but for some of us a great start to competitive amateur endurance sports entirely. As a way of keeping track of our collective progress, David suggested a mileage counter: So, with plenty more events to go, the Team Joyent has covered 324 miles the hard way by land and sea so far.
