Date: Thursday, 2/6, 6:30pm - 8:00pm Pacific TimeRegister Today

Join us to hear Cloudant's Chief Scientist, Mike Miller who hails from Boston to speak about developing a high-velocity, Big Data apps with Cloudant running on Joyent SmartOS. Building mobile and web apps is all about globally moving data and scaling your infrastructure to meet the demands of users. Mike will discuss how Cloudant and Joyent eliminate the need for developers to anticipate how their database and IT infrastructure will behave under the load of millions of users.

Cloudant is a NoSQL database service that's used by Samsung, Microsoft, Salesforce, and thousands of others to create scalable web and mobile apps. It's a fast, always-on, scalable database that is managed and grown for you, so you can stay focused on new development and not on IT operations.

SpeakerAs chief scientist, Mike is responsible for developing and evangelizing Cloudant's technical vision, managing long-term product R&D, and directing special projects. While at MIT as a Postdoctoral Fellow, he co-founded Cloudant with colleagues Alan Hoffman and Adam Kocoloski after cutting his teeth on petabyte-per-second problems at the Large Hadron Collider. Mike holds a B.S. in Physics and a B.A in Philosophy from Michigan State University, a Ph.D. in Physics from Yale University, and is an Affiliate Professor of Particle Physics at University of Washington.
