Node: Sometimes It’s All Fun and Games
This past week was the Game Developers Conference, hosted at the Moscone Center in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood. 22,500 gaming professionals gathered to attend the panels, tutorials and round-table conversations. In addition to making lunch lines in downtown SF unbearably long, it made all of us get pretty excited about gaming.
While games are on everyone’s brain, we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of the ways that Node.js intersects with the gaming community. The Node community is filled with gaming enthusiasts - and visa versa. We’ve seen some great, innovative games built using Node by developers ranging from professionals at leading edge gaming companies to participants at hackathons.
Check out some of the possibilities as discussed at Node Summit 2012, where some top gaming companies discussed how Node.js, as a real-time technology, has become central to their game app, platform and engine development strategies.
Or, venture into the world of some newer games by exploring the winners of this year’s NodeKnockout.
