Webinar: Benchmarking the Cloud

Accurate benchmarking of the cloud can determine the best instance types and solutions, to be used as an aid while debugging performance issues, and can provide useful information about limiters during product development and capacity planning. It is, however, an error prone activity, with even the most simple types of benchmarking producing unreliable results.

This webinar describes the process and risks of benchmarking, describes some key micro-benchmarking tools, and explains the Active Benchmarking methodology for producing reliable results. Whether you're evaluating cloud vendors or debugging a performance issue, being able to quickly produce accurate benchmark results is an invaluable skill to have.

Brendan Gregg recently wrote about benchmarking in his new book, Systems Performance: Enterprise and the Cloud. The benchmarking chapter can be read online here.
