In Part 2 of this webinar series, Konstantin Gredeskoul and Atasay Gokkaya, respectively Wanelo's CTO and Senior Software Engineer, provide insight into how the Joyent Manta storage and big data analytics service allowed Wanelo to track and understand their users behavior.
Wanelo is a shopping service provider for millions of mobile and web users. They generate hundreds of gigabytes of shopping intent data that is processed in Joyent Manta. Atasay walks through their Ruby-based integration with Manta showing a live example of putting and aggregating results in seconds. Konstantin talks about the design process and the developer team's experience with this innovative compute on storage service.
Joyent Manta Storage Service is a radically elegant solution for big data and object storage problems. Joyent Manta combines a petabyte+ scale object storage service and massively parallel compute service resident with the object storage system. The unique benefit is that there is zero data movement required and virtually zero latency for access to objects, greatly speeding compute response across millions of objects. Big data insights can be accessed in a fraction of the time of other systems. Notably, the developers' interface to Manta is both a REST API, and a very straightforward pipeline system similar to the Unix shell pipeline and the Windows PowerShell.
